I'm looking for some advise. I have some 1.25 round dowel, and a big box. So how often would you brace it? Like one side is 49" x 38" would you do just one in the very middle? What is a general rule of thumb as far as how big of a section can you have before bracing it?

I always put something in the center of each panel. Bracing elsewhere is great but that is the most important location. I don't know that anyone has come up with a rule of thumb. I like to make a fist and give the box a solid hit. If it makes a hollow sound it needs bracing. If it's solid and barely makes a noise it's probably good.

If your box is 49"x38" and X" deep, I'd do 3 at the very least. When I had my three MJ-18's I did three equally spaced to brace around the sub cutouts, box was 54"wide and 34" tall and was only using around 1kw at the most.
