is the box at the back of the trunk facing forward? if not is it sealed off around the edges from the back of the trunk?

i have two 12" MOJO in a 5 cu.ft box and mine sound good hit a 146.7 on brand new subs (not broken in at all) which is decent, but i have also been wondering if facing back would make higher numbers? my problem is that the box is a 2 pc and was built in the car but if i will hit higher then i will rebuild a box.

If you haven't tried this...I've heard of it...try sliding box all the way back where back touches trunk opening...and fire forward.....also like someone said completly sealing off trunk from rear...and I heard it needs to be completly sealed.....some people use candles to detect air leaks from front to trunk....I have best results with rear firing...Since your bass waves are your longest waves they have more time to mature once they reach the front of the vehicle...with front firing you can delay the waves with time alignment.....

I fire my box forward without sealing my trunk and it gives me the best result(to the ear).

i tried it with the the box i made i used the re calculator and made it 3 cubes after port tuned to 45 hz for 1 15 off 700 watts. it sounded like shit firing forward and sounded ok rear fire. the other box i made was louder at 35 hz

WTF does sounding good have to do with SPL scores?????????????

when its firing forward the stock speakers have just as much bass

it has nothing to do with spl i was just stating that mine sounds decent but yet still hits the higher numbers during comp! its not like i enter sq comps though!
