box volume?

ok i built a box its 36" x 12 x21 deep, and according to the calculator i used its 2.6 cu ft, and another says its 4 cu? it has a 4.5 inch port and 47.25 in^2 of port. anybody tell me what it really is? i figured 2.6 would be too small, but the box seems too big, and the subs bottom...

What are the exact dimensions of the port? I'm assuming it is 4.5" wide and 10.5" tall? How long is the port?

If the port wall extends into the enclosure about 15.75", then the box is around 3.4 cubes tuned to about 35hz. If the port only extends around 10" or so, then the box is about 3.7 cubes tuned to about 43hz.

You also have to take into account the displacement of the subwoofer itself. Can be as much as 6 liters if it's a 15"

the port extends 15.5 inches back, then rounds off and is 12.75 inches, so 28.25

Well that's kind of ****ed up having two different port areas but it's probably about 3 cubes before sub displacement and tuned around 33hz.

Mine was 30x17.5x19.something and it was 3.5 cubes NET. Port was 3.4'' wide, 16 tall, and I don't remember how long, about 25'' I think

anyway it BARELY fit in the trunk, I had to give it a couple roundhouse kicks to make it slide in. I have almost no trunk space left

If you're shooting for 4 cubes, expect to have even less space, otherwise I'd say the ~3 is more accurate

I had over 6 cubes in my trunk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif but i made it only 16" tall, and it slid in fine, it was 38" wide, and 24 inches deep.

Well then you gave me some wrong numbers somewhere. Either way, the enclosure is definitely around 3 cubes.

i didnt compensate for the front baffle, thats where i gave u the wrong dims...
