I need to know what would be best for my subs and music. I listen to a good variety of rap and metal. I have 2 Planet Audio Zetar Z-12 subs, specs:

Technical Data Z-12

Nominal Diameter: 12"

Basket Diameter: 12-1/2"

Mounting Diameter: 11"

Mounting Depth: 7-1/8"

Magnet Diameter: 6-3/4"

Magnet Weight: 120oz

Frequency Range: 12-250 hz

Nominal Impedance: Dual 2ohm

DC Resistance (Re): Dual 1.8ohm

Resonance Frequency: (fs) 27Hz

Mechanical Q Factor: (Qms) 1.222

Electrical Q Factor: (Qes) 0.31

Total Q Factor (Qts): 0.247

Effective Cone Area (Sd): 81.50sq in

Equivalent Air Volume (Vas): 2.57ft^3

Compliance (Cms): 498.714uM/N

Moving Mass (Mms): 65.063g

Voice Coil Diameter: 2-1/2"

Voice Coil Winding Height: 35mm

Voice Coil Former Material: Anodized Aluminum

Voice Coil Inductance: 1.894uH

Force Factor (Bl): 9.363 TM

Linear Excursion (Xmax): 13.97mm

Sensitivity (SPL): 94 dB

Operating Power (Pe): 375 watts

Recommended Enclosures (ported)

2.25 ft^3

Port:

(1) 4"x 15.7 30 hz

(1) 4"x 9.75" 35 hz

20 sq.in. x 15" 35 hz

20 sq.in. x 13" 37 hz

25 sq.in. x 16" 40 hz

As far as tuning goes, does it make the box ideal for that frequency? Also, if I tune it lower will it still sound good with the higher frequencies?

Alright, that's what I had been told but wanted a second (or third) opinion. Are the plans in the sticky topic good too? I was planning on just using one of those. Looks like I'll be busy building this weekend. I'll try to post pics with the finished box.

Thanks for the response!

I just realized none of those plans work for me. I need 4.5 cu. ft. and have only 14.5" height and 38" width to work with. Anybody willing to make plans for me? When you do this do you have to factor in displacement for the subs? Sorry for the questions, I'm in the process of learning (or at least trying to).

edit: if somebody will be willing to make the plans, I think 32hz should work. Thanks in advance!

the12volt.com has some good calculators for boxes and what not but for tunning try to find a program online such as bassbox pro or something similar. these types of programs help out with calculating diplacement and port length as well as different odds and ends.

I don't really have the money for bassbox and I want to have a vented box with just one vent for both subs (like most of the plans moe lester has posted). I wouldn't be able to figure out how to properly plan a box with the proper volume, port volume, port tuning and everything else. I plan on learning that, but for now I just need to get this box built. Well, okay I don't NEED to but you know how it is... you need to hit harder as soon as you can.

anybody willing to make the plans for me? I'd be more than grateful. I'll get pics up to show a) the box I have now and b) the space I have to work with.

How much depth?

Not for sure and I'm getting ready to go to bed right now but I'm sure it's not less than 22". I have more space than that but I'm going to mount my amps behind the box on an incline so it saves a little space. So that makes my max dimensions 14.5 x 38 x 22. I don't want to be too picky but I just want one vent since that would be easier to build (unless there's some advantage to having two chambers and two vents?). And if I want the front and back to be recessed a little bit so the top, bottom and sides overhang a bit, will I just add a little length/width to those pieces? I'll really appreciate it if you make these plans for me, but if not I understand people have plenty of their own junk to do.

Vd is 44.825in^3 per sub, making it 89.65 with both subs

4.5 ft^3 internal volume for the box

tuned to 32hz

11.5 port height (do I need to know the width already?)

if somebody could even help me get my port area and length I'll be able to do the rest. I tried using these equations http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68635 and I'm usually great with math but somehow I kept getting 50 inches for port diameter. Thanks a ton if anybody can and will help me with this!!

edit: pics of my crappy box in my gallery now
