Box Stuffing

Hello. I am having a box built for two 12 woofers. The required airspace for these woofers are 1.5 cu ft. per. (idmax 12). However, I would like to safe some trunk space. It is to my understanding, that a smaller box with stuffing will cause the woofers to perform as if they where in the required box. My question is how small a box and how much stuffing would be needed to make this work. I am looking at 1.2 cu with a pound of stuffing per chamber. Will that work? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
