Box shape? Kind?

Does the shape of a sub box matter? I going to build a box and I have an awkward space I want it to go in. I'm also having trouble deciding on a ported or sealed box. It is and Infinity kappa Perfect 12.1D which will be powered by a JBL 300.1. The sub will be in the trunk of a sedan. What do you suggest. Oh, one more thing. When calculating the volume in the box do I account for the volume the sub takes up? If so what is the volume of a Perfect?

the shape of the box wont make a difference in sound and with a perfect i would go with a sealed box because perfects hard nice SQ so by putting it in a sealed u keep the SQ way up there if u have any extra cash u might want to get a more powerful amp just depends how much bump u want i sugest the jl 500/1

for a perfect and u dont take the vol of the sub in account when calculating box size

go with a sealed box it is your safest bet.
