I have a 98 Taurus and will be using a DD 9512 off a KX2500.1. I don't really know how I want to do the install, forward firing sealed off or rear firing. Also I have a box design that is side firing but would be sealed off from the trunk. My previous install was a single DD 9515 forward firing. With the seats down it was really loud and could hurt my ears, but with the seats up it would hurt the passenger's in the back seat chest and wasn't nearly as loud. I am not sure if that was because it wasn't sealed off well enough or if it was because it was firing straight into the seat. In college when I drive my car there is usually people in the back seat, so I care more about how loud it is with the seats up.
Here is a picture of a Taurus Trunk, notice the overhang closest to the seats, the box will be going under this.
Here is the regular box design, I would either seal it off forward fired or rear firing.
and Here is the side firing
Both boxes will be around 2.5 tuned to 37. For the side firing box I thought that maybe if the sub and port weren't on the same plane as the seats that I wouldn't notice so much of a difference with the seats up or down because when I rear fired there wasn't too much a difference between seats up or down. Any help or tips would be appreciated especially from anyone that has done a forward firing setup in a trunk car.
