Box Placement Legality?

So I was thinking about how much of a disadvantage it is to have a trunk car opposed to say a CRX and this popped into my head. Could you just plop your box (provided it stays under the windowline and fits in your back seat) in your back seat for competitions? I'd imagine it'd be a good bit louder then being in the trunk, but only some testing will show if that is true or not.

I built a little 1.3 cube box tuned to 52 hz with a 6" aero for my 10" RE SX for a competition tomorrow for shits and giggles, itll be funny when I put up some better numbers then some people with a pair of 15"s. I'm gonna meter the box in a bunch of positions tomorrow, including sitting in the back seat, then make my run on the TL and see what I come up with.

wouldnt that put you in super street no wall? just from my experience i havent seen throwing a box in the back seat give very good results. Its possible but i havent seen it yet

Very possible that it does not yield good results, I'll find out for sure tomorrow. I wouldn't see why that would put you in SS NW, its behind the B pillar and under the windowline right?

i thought since its not located in the cargo area that it would be SS it's been awhile since i looked at the rules:)
Oh, very possible, that didn't come to mind. I'm gonna do some rules reading right now. If I ever want to be a player in the SPL game I'm gonna need to know those rulebooks in and out.

they got ya on the must not interfear rule,,the seats must be factory operational
yup, just read it too. under the "street max" section-

Subwoofer enclosures may be placed in or on the rear seat(s) of the vehicle. (The rear seat(s) may be removed or folded at the competitor's discretion.)

Now to check IASCA rules.

Never made it to the show today, I'm gonna meter tomorrow and post up results.

Okay, I was thinking again. Could you put a box on top of rear seats folded down? You can in Explorers and other SUV's, so I wouldn't see why not in a trunk car. (I'd imagine there is a rule about this somewhere too, I read through them and didn't find any though).

in an SUV you can't place the box on the rear seats and be in a street class.

In most street classes (except meca) the street rules are....everything in the cargo area, rear seat must be able to latch without moving the enclosure, and everything attached to the enclosure must be under the window line.

In MECA the enclosure has to be under the rear seat (no rearward vision blocked)

In street max you can have a wall if you wanted it, but you are limited to 1 battery
