This weekend I'm going to prep my BTL's box for painting. The last box I did was 5cuft and took (5) cans of black lacquer and (1) quart of primer.

The 12" Type R's are actually being used in my house, they are powered by a Behringer EP2500 and are getting around 900rms each which is enough to flex all the windows and vibrate all the doors of pretty much every room in the home //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

More updates to come, but don't expect this box to get finished this weekend. This painting process is cheap and easy, but takes time.

Check out the log of my 1st box in my sig if you would like to see the procedures that I'm going to use.

i was wondering when you were goin to get some gloss on the new box

good luck with it

are you goin to make a build thread or keep it in this one

subscribed anyways

did you ever decided what you were going to do about getting those low notes in the truck? Just curious.
Actually, Yes I did get the low notes that I was looking for and decided to scratch the idea of building a new box for the BTL. I installed a nice crossover to help tune the bass around the 30hz range and the sub has finally broken in and it sounds much much better when hitting the lows aroudn 30hz compared to the 1st few weeks of owning this sub.

I've compared it to the Type R's in a swap out test using the same amp and wattage and the BTL hits the lows just like the R's and has the same SQ, but is much much louder and flex's everthing at at least twice as much.

I need to do some comparison videos between the R's and the BTL displaying examples from moving t-shirts hanging from the window to flexing gas stations roofs and windows. Theres a pretty big noticable difference between the two.

LOL'z it will go into the box during a 20hz test tone at low volumes if I throw a treat in the port. My cat likes the air flow from the bass //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I need to get a video of that for sure.

Then just twiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiist that volume knob up real quick lol.

Very nice work on it, and I mean VERY nice. Only suggestions I have: make sure that you spend most of your time sanding the work instead of painting. If you even THINK you can feel a box seam, then you definitely will see it. Then, sand down each coat of primer in increasing grits until you get a smooth as silk finish. Paint your lacquer first coat to where you can still see through it, then paint the next one and wetsand. Keep doing this until you have about 8 coats of lacquer or more, all wet sanded. Get some GOOD car wax like S100 or meg's #26, rub it on, wipe it off, and you'll blind yourself. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif centercaps on the CLK..?

i think ima do my box that way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif how much that paint and primer run you?

Each can is around 3-5 bucks, but you need like 20 cans overall //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
