Box or Hatchback Wall?

So right now I have a simple slot ported 2.5cu foot box that i built, in my Celica. I'm going to be running into some money soon, so I want to get another HDS312 and run them at 1-ohm. Okay. I need a box that can do this. Here are the max dementions to work with (wall or box oriented).

With the subs/port facing towards the front seats, Front baffle can be 25" tall and 43-47 inches wide, sides would have to slope down to 15 inches tall, that 15 inches would be the furthest back and that is about 33" of depth to work with and the same width as the front. Bottom and top would be the size necessary to cover. Now that is the most space I have to work with. Whether that is too big for two HDS312's thats where you guys come in to give me some advice on how I need to go about this.

Thanks.

I prefer to walk into money, not run.instead of front facing subs and port look into subs up port back designs for hatchback.I've been told that's best for hatches.I'm guessing you want to see the subs with the rear seat down.

I really don't care if I see the subs, I just need best encloser for the space.

Subs up port back. Did a good amount of builds in several civic hatches and facing subs up instead of back lead to a better sounding system because that back hatch doesnt sound to great when the bass starts hitting hard. Also when i had them facing back it did alot of damage to the rear area such as my back hatch latch had to be changed couple times. A wall will be better for SPL but a box sounded was better on the lowz.

The back glass is the problem with a lot of hatch backs. I had an 88 RX-7 with that big back window and it would rattle all over the place with anything more than 500W. If you really want to maximize your install, I would run a wall behind the front seats and seal it away from the hatch. If you still want to see out your back window, subs up, port back usually gives the best SPL. I prefer the look of the subs facing front and ports up or front myself though....

I could do this box no problem and it should fit fine while I can still keep my seats up if I want. the only thing different i am going to do is double baffle the top and put the subs Diagonal/striaght across on the top and keep the port back. What do you guys think.

Oh yeah its tuned to 34Hz with 5cu feet.

In all honesty, the best thing about having a hatchback, any which way you place the subs will be loud with decent power.just maybe a little more so with subs up port back.that being said 5 cubes looks good for 2 12's.invest some time and money with deadening the rear as much as you can.I filled my hatch itself with foam but that's just me.

Do you recommend removing all of the plastic panels and putting deadener under them and then putting the panels back on? because I want it to look normal not ghetto metal with sound deadener back there.

yeah you'll have to do that to reduce panel vibrations. Along with closed cell foam to decouple them, stop them from silly slapping eachother. I'd recommend walls for sedans and SUVs, not for hatchbacks because they already have a nice innate horn design that allows them to be louder via cabin gain. You'll be trading that out with a wall.
