Box for RE SR10 sub. Need guidance.

I was looking at getting a RE SR 10, and was looking at the sub dimensions. Reason being that It has a small box requirement, and really is all I need. Now the minimum is .35 ft^3, optimal being .5 ft^3. Would this sub be OK in a larger box, not much larger, just like .75 ft^3. Be weird to do a 12x12x6 box. The sub would barely fit depth wise.

if u put it in a box with a gross volume of .75 cu ft, the net volume would be .63 cu ft, wich is fine. the sub would extend a bit lower and not be AS loud. but chances are you wouldnt notice the diff

Haha. Its what I figured, but I would hate to build a .5 ft^3 box, and not have it fit. That size just seems **** small.

Revrider, what size box is it that you have? did you build it your self?

So a box with internal dimensions of 12"x12"x7.5" with a sub displacement of .12ft^3 would be a box with a net of .5 ft^3. Awesome. Now to start sketchng out some designs on how I want it to look. I might even through it in a CAD program and make a truncated pyramid design for fun. That would be awesome.

actually, by my calculations, 11x11x11 would be .75 cubic feet, so .62 net.

I thin I will go with 12x12x7.5 Gives a little room behind the magnet, and I could also lay it on its back, firing up, or forward, or hell, even go with a truncated cone. But that mught be hard.

did you subtract the thickness of the MDF

11x11x11=.77 cube - MDF=.57 I believe then take out the sub=.45 cube

I was going on all internal dimensions. I think I am going to do the 12x12x7.5 internal, as that will give me exactly .5 sealed with the sub. Still thinking of doing a truncated pyramid. that should be cool. Be 12X11.5 long, with a 9x9 base. Will be cool to see an irregular box. Don't see many of those.

A square 11x11x11 box would be pretty cool. Does box design affect sound at all.

for the most part no.

i'm building a sealed box for an SR 10 right now too and have room for a 1 ft^3. RE states 0.5 ft^3 as being the optimal enclosure BUT i'd like to get other opinions. I'll be feeding it 600 watts RMS (RF P600.1BD) and am after SQL. I listen to mostly R&B.

Thanks!
