A customer droped off 2 mtx thuder 8000 10" subs to get the surrounds repaired,

He said he still needs to find a box for them

the specs for the subs are

sealed .5 - 1.0

ported 1.0 - 2.0

I have a sealed box that is 1.0 each cammber that I could sell him Should I put some areo ports in it or leave it sealed. they will be installed in a Hacth back couger.

I have only heard these subs sealed and they sound really good, but I have never heard them ported, so I dont know what they will sound like ported

I say, if it aint broke dont fix it.

If they sounded good sealed, go with that, plus the fact its a hatchback is going to bump up the output anyway compared to lets say a trunk car. Sounds like a nice and simple install.

I had those same subs in 12's about a year and a half back right around when I was getting into car audio. Got them wicked cheap and they were in a crappy pre-fab sealed box in a trunk car but they sounded decent with the back seats down.

I agree with tez4life, if they sound good now, keep em that way. My buddy who bought them off me when I upgraded systems kept them in the same box but they sounded pretty poor in his vehicle cause he couldn't put his back seats down. About half a year later he ported them and they got slightly louder but I never drove around enough with him to be able to tell a huge difference. I say keep 'em sealed.
