Box for 1 Infinity Reference

Idk.. I have ran Infinity Subs, I dont think they are "crap" as some people say, I think they have their pros and cons just as any other brand.

this sub is a very entry level line from Infinity, I think crutchfeild has them for 50 bucks, not actually a bad deal..

My girl friend has one in her jeep, I have it in a 1.5 CuFt. box sealed, although im pushing it with an Eclipse M1000 (480Rms @ 2 Ohm) I have it turned down a bit, but overall the SQ is good, the overall bass is ok, great for rock, country and some rap, but if your looking to really hit low notes, i hate to say it but your not gonna do it with just one.. not like if you stepped up to lets say the next Referance model up from that one or a kappa, or went with the real deal, over at JBL like the GTO...

Now you can go with a ported box, but ported box only immitates, now i know most will argue this is the way to go, but if your wanting to SPL then sure.. but the sound you mainly get is the movement of the air it self from the port.. if you want real true bass, go sealed.

I have 2 P1224 JBL in a sealed box, and I will go against anyone of equal class range as my set up that has a ported system..

In conclusion, that sub is a nice sub if you just want to had some depth to your music and a little bump, but if your trying to moderately hit low notes, or really hit low notes, its not happening with that sub.. esp, not one of them..

Thanks, I actually got this Infinity from crutchfield for $50. I was trying to decide between the JBL GTO or the Infinity but I thought people were saying they were basically the same thing. I think I'll just go sealed then and save some room in the back of the ol' rodeo. I'm not going for "make you defecate yourself low", but it's currently in a prefab bandpass that is nowhere near as big as the specs show it should be and it can't get low at all. Either (sealed or ported) will be a major improvement over my current box. Thanks for the help.
