I got a sheet of 3/4" MDF sitting here for my weekend project. I want to get rid of my sealed enclosure and make my first ported enclosure but I need some help with some calculations.

The speaker is a 10" Dayton Quatro with 500w going to it and the site recommends a .6 cuft enclosure, 1" x 8" x 25" slot port, and tuned to 55hz.

The box I am making is 12"h x 48 1/2"w x 8"d with an internal volume of 1.817 cuft.

Now my problem is, I have no idea how big to make the port and I was looking to tune around 45hz. Any help is greatly appreciated.

i'd say a good 2"-3" diameter port

hey i am too lazy to find out. Just save yourself some time and make it a sealed enlocure.

just use a round port.

PVC isnt to expensive and www.the12volt.com/boxcalcs.asp has a port calculator to make it super easy.

how big of a diameter for the pvc do you recommend? or does it matter.

im using 4" PVC.

BBP6 rec. a 3"x3"x20" slot port tuned to 24.8Hz(25Hz).

But your wanting 45Hz, so PVC it 3"x3.7" for 45Hz.

If the 12v.com is wrong then im screwed.

Again, you're not taking the port and sub displacement into account.

True, you were only off by .75" or so Not much of a biggie though, unless you were to compete.
