Here's some of the progress on a build I'm doing for Dave_damage who happens to be a local //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

It's for (2) 12" Konaki's. Come's in at 4.1 cubic feet including port and subwoofer displacement (which is alot //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif those dd9512g copies are some big moofas) which is a on the minimum side of volume but every single dimension in that trunk of his is maxed, maybe a bit more //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif.

It's tuned to 33Hz with just shy of 50 sq. in of port area which is closer to the 12 sq. in per cubic foot which is well within safe for port area. The port is also straight with no turn at the end and also is rounded off, 45 degree'd at the end, and the port opening will be flared with a 3/8ths roundover so there shouldn't be a hint of port noise.

Box dimensions:

13.5" height (maxed)

34" width (maxed)

25" deep lol (max is 29", gotta leave 4" for port clearance from trunk wall, so it's also maxed)

On to the pics. As of now, the box is raw, because I plan on meeting up with him and test fitting the box (I don't wanna build a finished box to find out it doesn't fit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif. I'm really unsure as to if this box will fit, because I tried to fit Twista89's box and it was a huge pain, and it was a 2 door and a box not nearly as deep, so we'll see how this goes trying to get this bish through those little back doors and through the back seat opening.

Sexy double front baffle

More pix coming soon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Got the top on the box, again, this really shows how deep this thing is in relation to height and width.

Picture of the finished "test box". Once it is confirmed that it fits, I'm gonna flush all edges, round over the port opening, install terminal cups, and carpet this in charcoal carpet.

I sure hope it fits //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif or I'm going to be stuck with a rather large, oddly shaped paper weight //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Or hope it doesn't choke the trunk off =no bass.
There's wiggle room height and width wise, it's just this weird stamped metal support that gets in the way. The box he has now has the same exact specs... 34" wide and 13" tall, so it's just as big, just not as deep and it slammed pretty good when I heard it with some soundstream 12's. With those konaki's in a new ported setup, they should destroy that thing.

Is the port its own width away from the back wall? Did that make sense haha?

Kevin
Correct, port is it's own with away from the trunk lid (port is 4", max depth in trunk is 29", the box is 25" so there's a tad more than 4" to spare.

Wow that is big lol. Im glad I didnt try and make by box deeper probably would still be trying to get mines in lol. But yea it isnt that wide or tall so if you can get it into the passenger cabin alright then Im sure it should be able to slide right into the trunk.

Does his grand am look just like mine or is it one of the newer wider versions???

It's actually newer, and the trunk opening itself is a tad wider, but still not enough. And the actual front of the trunk ( by the seats ) gets really narrow, hence the 34" instead of the 38" like yours. It's also pretty short... it's also a 4 door Grand Am instead of your 2 door, so the back doors won't swing open as wide, I hope I can squeeze this big bish through there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

Nice box. I like the rounded port. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It's gonna have a bright red port with charcoal carpeting. Why green though lol?
Cuz Marijuana is green??? My box is gonna be silvery green and I am gonna have a nice big *** deal that says legalize it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif:laugh://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
