Box Build for (2) 10" L7's (2.9 @ 38 each) for ARMY-KILLA!

how much....?
if you make it longer you will lose box size.

just cut out another piece of wood for the inside of the port so that the port walls are 1.5 inches as opposed to 3/4 inch thick this will lower the freq and not lose box size.

this will lower the port freq, just do some more calculations on how many of the walls you shoulod add double walls to to get the desired freq

When the port is in the middle like that and it "splits" to each side, does port displacement change or is it still the same?
Port Displacement
if it uses of the sides of the box for one side of its port wall, then:

(port height) x (port length-wood thickness) x (port width + wood thickness) / 1728

if the ports in the middle of the box, and has its own walls, then:

(port height) x (port length - wood thickness) x [port width + 2(wood thickness)] / 1728

You've got good box building skills dude. I started building boxes in high school (class of 95 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif) and made a killing. So much that I opened three car audio stores! (lost them in 9/11 though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif ) I'm too old to sit out and build boxes anymore or I'd still be doing it. Life slowed down and I got intolerant of summer heat around 30 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif .

I don't mind it every now and then, but I was knocking two per day out way back when. You are doing a killer job on the boxes, it looks great. Just need to learn thiele small parameters and you'll be set. You've definitely got the eye for it.

Keep up the good work.

Honestly, it would be easier and faster to build an entirely new enclosure than rip the carpeting off and break it apart and rebuild it. Also, the original plan is 2.9 cubes TOTAL, not per driver.

i ran some numbers and came up with this:

4cubes34hz625sqiniz6.png

that's about 4 cu ft tuned to just under 34 Hz with 62.5 sq in of port, and i think it'll fit fine in an S10 and stay under the window line.

with that much more volume (nearly double) and 10+ Hz lower tuning, you'll get a LOT more low bass extension. while you're at it you might as well make another box for yourself too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i can't wait to get my box!!!!!! it's going to be loud!!!!!

you should just drive all night and meet me tomorrow at 5AM in minneapolis //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i dont have the time or wood or carpet. im just refunding his money, keepin my enclosure, becuase i like how it sounds personally, and burning the mess up.game over.
