Bounty hunter 'Dog' taped spewing N-word

Sounds like he used the word to describe her since he doesn't like her, not just because she is black. Like if I called a white guy "white trash" -- not because he is poor and lives in a trailer, but because he's an ***-hole or of poor moral character.

I dunno... it was a private conversation as well. While I don't agree with the usage of the word, I also don't think that someone saying the word in private should warrant them getting in huge trouble in public. If someone wants to be a racist in their own home or with their friends I don't see where they should get in public trouble unless they acted on their racist thoughts in a public manner (eg: insulting black people in public)... they are still an idiot, but being an idiot isn't illegal yet.

If he busted it out on his TV show then that is public business, but it wasn't, it was in a private conversation that someone happened to tape and was used to describe a particular person... not calling all black people as such -- just the girlfriend. And again, I don't agree with him, but it is still not related to his outward public actions.

Why doesn't the media slam Chris Rock? Ever hear any of his shows? BTW Didn't you only black people can use the term ******, cracker, etc., and get away with it. However when a white guy says it ................................

haha its so stupid people blow this shit out of proportion. I use the word 30 times a day, and I dont have any problems with "black" people.
not a good idea, but so be it...
The word today is nothing what it used to be. definition is: a victim of prejudice similar to that suffered by blacks; a person who is economically, politically, or socially disenfranchised. or Used as a disparaging term for a Black person.
if that's what it actually is supposed to mean, why do black people call each other that name? Why do some blacks greet each other with "*****"?
the n word is viewed by some black people as a reclamation project, and by others as a word that should be extinct... something for the history books.
It ovbiously is not a doragitory(sp?) term anymore, unless used as an insult by a racist person to a black person. Its just like the word F*ck. It can be used in many different ways and mean a ton of different tings.
/thread
You believe it is not derogatory, but belief, whether it be yours or mine, does not make fact.
I understand that words evolve, however it seems that some people see the n word as a bone of contention... having a word that is off limits to them seems to make them covetous. Its interesting that the n word has been selected as the racial slur that, for whatever reason, people want to adopt (witness the countless asian and mexican people that use it, hell the majority of the preppy white kids around here like to use it in reference to themselves and to others).

believe me... the word has not changed... some people, black and non-black, would like to view it differently. Some people would like to remove the taboo from the word, but believe me... the word has not changed. the ignorant will continue to use it, and that can be excused... they don't know any better. But the people with knowledge? they cannot be excused.

While i have no opinion over this issue with dog the bounty hunter, i have strong opinions on the word in question and the ideas it carries.

Geez, you have been saving your 18th post since 2005 in order to make that statement?

Your point, for whatever it is worth, has been made before.

However, because he chose an occupation as a public figure...his private life is looked at with a magnifying glass. He should have know the occupational hazard.

lets say that you belonged to a group that has been oppressed... lets say that it went on for hundreds of years, and that the oppression was enshrined in law until quite recently from a historical standpoint... lets say that a word became so thoroughly intertwined with that oppression that it became its symbol...
would you want others to use that symbol? to redefine it as they please while insisting that it no longer carried its old connotations?

If you cannot understand that... well... i don't know what you'd understand.

You say you have strong feelings, but are you for or against its use?
Honestly, i have no issue with black people using the word... I prefer that it not be said by people of other races... however, black people's free usage of the word seems to make it... appealing to people of other races...
It seems that the real world choices are 1) everyone says it or 2) no one says it.

between the two, i'd choose the latter...

real world choices? in the real world, people let themselves be affected far too much by words, mere words, that other people say. anytime someone allows themself to be affected by the words of the ignorant, the ignorant has won. political correctness has turned people into the biggest touchy feely pussies in the history of man.

I try not to view the world in color I only view it in a hazy shade of gray....for each and everyone of us are God's children...and God sees no color or race in any of us only his equal children.....What we become of our given lives God has no control over...One should be thankful of his creator ...instead of questioning and causing problems among one another.....Brah //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
