Boston G5 & GTR...Any Comments?

I plan on buying a 12" Boston G5 and GTR with the 1 cu ft Boston box.

I have a Memphis MCD500 RMS / 1000 Peak (Approx) Amp.

And would it be louder if I just used 1 Boston G5 in a ported box instead of using the GTR?

Will this setup slam? I know it will have good SQ but will it sound almost or just about as loud as my 2 MTX 7500's in a sledgehammer ported box with the same amp running about 50% gain.

is that from the sub or the 50% gain comment? lol

i just ordered two g1's, just got em like 45 mins ago... i barely hooked em up and dont got a real good amp to power em yet but for the price i paid, they seem like they're exactly to suit my needs ($135 shipped, two 12's, dual 4 ohms)

im pretty sure the g5 is more of a SQ sub.... im sure they get loud.. for the money you could prob get a *louder sub* but i dont think as many would sound as good doing it...

i wanted 2 g5's but i was too broke...

but even with the gtr, running these sealed wont compete with a pure SPL sub and a ported box.. but theyre meant for small sealed boxes

yeah i dont have the money for 2 g5's well i do but not to buy another amp to power the 2 g5's. any suggestions? im looking for a rly rly nice 500w sub that will be almost or as loud as my mtx's but with good sq.

and buck u have no idea what ur talking about. u use a 12 gtr with a 12 g5 and a 10 gtr with a 10 g5...

could look into the g2's... this one youtube video is what sold me to try the g1's

granted they might not be the *best* but for about $100 plus shipping, they seem very solid

There's a lot of reasons your question cannot be answered

with accuracy. I'll tell you one thing, if yours is installed well,

I'd rather run your setup than your friends, even if his where

louder at 55hz or 60hz.

i meant two //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

more cone area

more voice coil

slightly more excursision

but granted its also a llittle bit more money

I have the 2 mtx 7500's but i want to sell them and get the bostons. what do u think of this idea?

and etac id rather get just 1 good sub then 2 ok ones. i know g2s are still good but id rather just use 1 g5 and then upgrade to 2 g5's later when i get more money

sorry wish i could help you more on that, i dont have any real expierence with either... so... i dont wanna point you in the wrong direction... overall boston makes solid subs... but i dont want you to regret changing your equipment

edit: i hear ya on running two ok ones, but honestly i dont think two g5's would be *that* much better than two g2's... will they be better, yes... but i think they would also be very similar and i dont think they'd be worth double the price

ok thanks man. im rly just kinda sick of my mtx's. i want a bit more SQ. plus the vented box rattles the shit out of my truck. and i hear ya too etac. ur more of a bang for your buck. but im kinda ocd if i get the g2's i know ill just want g5's so im just gonna go straight for the g5 if i decide to definetely go with this setup.
