Bose vs. JL

Hey,

I am looking into buying a Mzda 6s and some come with a BOSE system. My current car i have an alpine 9813, 2 JL 10'' subs, and 4 JL 2-way 5 1/4 speakers powered by eclipse amp. I was wondering which combo would sound the best. I know BOSE it suppose to be this expensive great sound, so it would seem logical to pitch the JL speakers for the BOSE, but would this sound better? If so, could the BOSE speakers be hooked up to my eclipse amp?

bose is really not in anyway worth anything when compared to almost any aftermarket car audio equipment. You would be much better off keeping the JL equipment and ditching the bose.

Human hearing is most sensitive between 200Hz to 10kHz and BOSE AM-15 (tested MRSP back then was $1,399) was benchmarked by Tom Nousaine in Sound & Vision Magazine ...
BOSE AM-15 System MSRP $1,399

SATELLITES

Frequency Response:..... 280 Hz to 13.3 kHz ±10.5 dB

BASS MODULE

Frequency Response:.... 46 Hz to 202 Hz ±2.3 dB

So, it covers the most sensitive hearing area but not very smoothly based on the ±10.5 dB tolerance.

Note also that the Bose Bass Module highest frequency does not meet the Satellites lowest usable frequency, ... leaving a musical frequency (Black) HOLE!!!

now this is for one of their more expensive home systems and since the majority of the R&D i would guess is spent on home audio their car stuff cannot be much better

Dude, you would be MUCH better off with your previous equipment than the Bose crap. Just take a look at the speakers they use if you get a chance. They are the same cheap paper cones as any standard econocar stereo, they just use more processing to make them sound a little better. I'm sure those JLs are vastly better quality.

i used to like bose untill one day my home theatre sub started to make a popping noise. my friend has a bose system in his car, i think my stock system sounds much better.
