Bose Premium Giving Me Fits

Hey Guys,

This is my virgin post, I hope you guys can help me. I am 3 weeks and 1300 dollars into my install in my 2002 Olds Bravada with the premium Bose sound system. I have a Dual XDVD710 7" motorized in-dash, a Crunch 1500w amplifier, and 2 12" PBX PowerBase Xtreme Subs. I have the Peripheral GMAH24B Interface Module that allows me to install an after market head unit into the Bravada while retaining the use of the door chimes, and the On-Star. Everything is installed correctly (I know because I have taken it out and put it back in about 15 times trying to get it to perform like it should). The max volume of my head unit is 40, when I turn the volume up to 30 which was pretty loud when I had this HU in another car, it sounds ok but not very loud, if I increase the volume from 30 to 31 it seems to reduce the volume by about 40% just between 30 & 31. If i go up to 32 it increases from the already reduced volume and sounds muffled, I'm not sure what to do about this but it just doesn't sound really good at any volume but above 30 it sounds horrible. After playing it above 30 for a little while, it will start getting quieter and quieter even the subs will go soft on me. I have tried another head unit and it does the same thing. I have tried another interface module that connect through the RCA outputs of the CD player rather than the speaker leads, I t made that problem stop but it would just shut off all together where all i would have is the bass from the subs (at a low volume even at 40) I think this all boils down to the factory BOSE system not liking what I am trying to do. Please guys show me what you got, I am stumped the local stereo shops are stumped, the manufactures of my head unit and interface module are stumped. I'm just trying to install a stereo system in my truck, I have done it before about 50 times for myself and others, and have never run across anything like this!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/pissed.gif.9f665f96bc89e98e708dabd4580bb591.gif

Sorry for the novel, but big problems=big stories!

Completely bypass the Bose. It's crappy equipment with buttloads of equalization to make it sound nice. Generally, factory Bose systems don't like aftermarket equipment. Get yourself a nice 4-channel amp and some components up front, and coaxials in the back and call it a day.

I would like to do just that, however bypassing the BOSE amplifier will render my On-star, and my door chimes and fuel level warning chime disabled. I am trying to my best to keep these features.

THe chime and onstar signal are sent from the hu to the gmos to the bose amp to the speakers by god know how many wire, bypassing the bose amp will disable the entire system. I have a gmos-04 and thats how she works.

The Bose amp is recieving signal only not Data, everything onstar is in the smaller plug, The only thing the bose is their to do is provide equalization, if you were to say run rcas to a 4 ch and then to your speakers you should still retain everything but door chimes but if you really wanted to you could wire a relay to make that still work

Imo i think.
