Nah, vehicle was lowered so didn't have to do that. Most challenging lifting it up was getting my wonderful Harbor Freight tools floor jack under it.

@los33 What causes a "hollow sound" when the vehicle starts up then goes away after a min or two when engine gets warm? I noticed this on my s10 also.

Well it's tough to explain on the computer...but same engine as yours in mine, 350, 5.7 and the s10 has 4.3 vortec v6

Read it. It’s common with gm trucks, my dads 01 truck and my 02 Tahoe have it, I haven’t noticed it in my 2011 yet.

how sure are you and is this something that needs replacing?

The lac aka map sensor wouldn't make such a noise.
The engine ******* way more air during startup could be from a air leak or loose headers.

If you mean hollow as in it sounds like a huge gust of wind when accelerating then that's normal and has to do with weak exhaust pipes that need to be tightened or replaced.

all fuel injected vehicles have a form of idle air controller or idle air valve it limits the airflow for a time after startup to richen the air fuel mixture. without hearing it i cant say 100 percent for sure bit most likely thats what it is and its normal. its basically a fi choke
