BlueTooth Integration with Vista? Anyone?

What I'm looking to do is set up my computer with some sort of slick feeling solution for integrating my Smartphone with my Vista box.

I live in a 1bedroom apt, and I have a 32" monitor that is also my TV/media center so I didn't have to waste space with a separate computer desk/monitor etc.

Anyways, it would be sick if something popped up on my screen and played a tone or something when I had a call, and play the caller through my Audio Output and listened via a Microphone.

I was using someone else's car to get mine out of the impound (don't try to duck your taxes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif ) and they had a bluetooth integrated setup. It was great to just have my phone nearby and have the car operate it and act as the main interface.

Any applications/hardware bluetooth receivers for this purpose?

get linux, **** vista.

what you want to do may be possible on a vista box, but im not sure how, and im pretty sure youd have to spend money to get it to work.

if your interested in converting, let me know.

OH and the visual effects would put vista to SHAME - you would probably enjoy that on your large monitor //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Eh, I'm not anti-linux.

I've messed with a few distros before, but M$ products are intuitive to me at this point, and the world assumes you are on a Windows-based OS, so most applications, games, etc, are set up to work under that assumption.

Not to mention drivers are a pain in the *** with linux, or at least they were when I used it. I hate having to deal with another layer of configuration for everything. Visual effects are fun but I don't particularly care; TBH I went vista over XP out of curiosity and the easy availability of illegitimate Ultimate copies :p

Also - I don't mind spending a little money for this to happen.

the new gen of linux distros could not possibly be easier to use. i put linuxmint 4.0 (ubuntu based) on my girlfriends computer and she was scared - well guess what, it detected everything connected to the computer inside and out automatically. internet was immediately working, and it couldnt possibly be easier to use. every day i find myself going "holy shit i cant believe how easy that was" and thinking about what a chore it would be on M$.

oh and any linux distro can run any windows program //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif games, apps, etc.

but as to what your looking for - not quite sure, sorry man.

Might get a dual-boot going at some point if the above bit about windows compatibility is true.
I would not count on it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I run linux servers for my business and use a linux desktop for many years as a primary computer up until the beginning of this year and while they are getting better there is still quite a ways to go until it can be considered a 'Windows replacement'

To a geek spending 6 hours trying to get a driver installed on Linux is just part of running it but for most of the world it would be considered a nightmare.

That is exactly my perception of linux enthusiasts. I was down with that before I had a job working in IT, and at this point when I go home troubleshooting any kind of failure of anything is the last ****in thing I want to be a part of lol.
