I have been looking at a few BT enabled HUs since I am due to replace my old Alpine and I came up on this Sony unit http://www.sourceoneaudio.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=6662

Looks kind of funky, has 4v outputs, and Sony is a decent manufacturer as far as I know. Price is right also. Anyone have one of these or know someone who does? Experiences good and bad please?

Also interested in other similiarly priced BT HUs. Thanks in advance.

I would avoid Sony head units. You can get much better out there. Not similarly priced but the Pioneer 9800BT is gorgeous and has great features.
Why do you say avoid Sony? Not questioning your expertise, just would like to know for myself why Sony is not desireable? I have been out of audio for awhile and when I was young Sony seemed to be the deal. Thanks

Sony is middle of the line when it comes decks. Pioneer, eclipse, and alpine will get you better quality, but ive never seen that deck in any vehicle so you will be unique atleast. If you like the looks of it and it gives you the features your looking for go for it. I would recommend buying it from an authorized dealer if you go for it so you know you have a warranty

I would spend a little more for the Pioneer BT unit but I have heard alot of issues with Pioneer decks causing engine noise so dont really want to deal with that ya know

my deh-3800 still causes engine whine even after doing the bare wire around the RCA's to ground them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I've heard of a few cases but most of the time it's either bad connections, RCAs, grounds, etc. All simple things to fix and I have at least 10 friends with Pioneer decks and they've never had any problems. If you can purchase it from a place that is authorized with a warranty and you'll be covered for everything then.

Sony used to be a better company but their head units leave a lot to be desired in my opinion. Personally, I'm not a fan of the looks, but that's entirely up to you. Also, lots of my friends get the Sony decks because they're cheap but they often crap out on them shortly after being installed.
