blu-ray, hd dvd, what to get?

I hope Sony's going to realize that there's a significant portion of people who might otherwise buy into BR that have absolutely no need for a PS3, and won't pay for something that they won't use...upgradeability or not.

which is why they make players that aren't a ps3 as well? Sony has a couple of good players on the market that aren't PS3s that can also be upgraded.

blu-ray optical drive for computers works very well also... cost 100$, plus 100$ for the software (that can be cracked) ... just a thought...

picking up the player on friday... got a few movies today. Black hawk down, casino royal, american gangster, and ocean's 13. Got alpha dog as well on normal dvd.

I will probably get the sony bdp-s3500 for $200 from crutchfield. Any other suggestions?

whoa wait if I play a normal dvd in any blu-ray, it will convert it to 1080p?

They do, but don't look anywhere as good as blu-ray. All it does for any upconverter is stretch the image. Blu-ray also has lossless audio which is a huge plus. Blu-ray all the way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
