Blown Voice Coil Wire. What do I do?

I have a Crossfire XT 212 and one of the wires that goes from the terminal to the woofer cone looks as if it burnt up. Not exactly sure how, but i totalled my car and after pulling everything out of it this is what I found:

What can I do to fix it? Or is there somewhere I can take it to be repaired. I live in Southern California. Zip Code 91350. Thanks for the input.

nah, you can fix it. just replace the tinsel lead. you will need to re-solder a new line. you can contact fi and ask them to sell you some tinsel lead. i'm sure other companies like sundown could help you with some tinsel lead since fi is usually busy. your sub is an easy fix. only issue it trying to mke it permanent so it doesn't do it again.

That's for the all the input. Both the helpful and the laughs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Soldering is easy enough. Should I completely remove the lead from the cone and use the glue or silicone that is holding the lead to it, or do I just solder the new piece to the existing one?

im sure Crossfire .......could take care of you
Do you know if they still have their location in Southern California or if they are only in Texas now? I'm in SoCal and know they used to be in Santa Fe springs but their website says different now.

the tinsel lead is soldered on to that part it conects to on the cone.

ur best bet = try and un solder the current broken tinsel completely off the sub.

then solder on a new one - at the correct length it needs to be.

( check the other side for refrence. )

back in the day - I had a sub that did exactly what yours did.

I just soldered the broken tinsl back together with a big ol glob of solder - that was apparently heavy , and you could hear the solder blob hit the cone during peak excursion rebounds. hahahah.

Just so I understand this completely before I start tearing things apart. If I get rid of the black silicone type material that is covering the tinsel lead on the cone side, I will find a metal connection on the cone where the lead connects?

Looks like it just seperated at the solder joint I would see if you have enough room to remove the frayed section and resolder, that is if the tensil lead is long enough

that is a nice find, but i would say this with my experience in attempting to resolder new lines fromt he existing leads in under the cap. they can be hard to find and not all are the same.

the one he used in his images stood out a lot. the ones that i tried with an 18" XXX and a 12"SX the leads were VERY VERY close to the voice coil tube thing.

though the position of where the tinsel lead exits the cone on his speaker can esily be reached unlike a few moofas out there.
