Blown visonik v4000xd?

well I'm getting some hope that I might be able to fix this amp. I think I will also upgrade my ground because that may have something to do with why it fried the FET

Yeah you should be able to fix it no problems. If the amp doesnt smell then that was your problem. Just look over the amp and make sure everything else is good. If you do, pull the board and look on the backside to make sure it is good. Sometimes you can burn a trace but you will not see it on the other side with all the components.

It's better to replace all parallel FET's, I would even say it's necessary for good reliability on heavily used amps. Also, use a current limiter (like headlight bulb) when testing this amp after repair is done; there can be more hidden problems with it and it can fry your newly installed FET's in seconds...

ive got a bunch of the FET's for this amp if your interested //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
PM me with a price for a full set

UPDATE:

I got the new FET installed and I reconnected the amp using a 60 amp fuse without the speakers or signal wires hooked up. Still have a problem because as soon as I turn the stereo on it automatically blows the fuse, but I do get the green light to come one for the slight second before the fuse blows. There are no new smells comming from the amplifier and it hasn't blown any more FET's. When the amp went out the first time the green light wouldn't even come on but now I get it for a second and it blows the fuse before even going into protect. ANY IDEAS?

Should I just send it in or start looking for a new amp?

60 amp fuse for first launch of newly repaired amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif If you insist on fuse, it should be no more then 5 amp. I hope your new FET's are still alive. You probably have a damaged driver circuit, gate or emitter resistors. Check all FET's for damage (damaged will have close to zero resistance between their pins). Also check gate resistors of all FET's - they can be open or severely out of spec.

Well most of that sounds like Greek to me so maybe I should just send it in. I sure hope I did not damage it more then before. Its pretty bad when I have got extremely more play time out of my cheap insignia amp on these subs then I have the visonik.

Would like to point out (since I repair amps for a living) that you likely have way more than just a few bad FETs. And to make matters worse, if either of those 2 little modules in between them (with the black goo spot in the middle) probably, DLM4500 modules are bad you are screwed, they won't sell you those modules without an order of at least $5400 worth. I already tried buying some from Dlogix.

The manufacturer might be nice enough to sell you one though.... If they do, get some extras for me, I will buy them from you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Ouch I sure hope it's not like that... how would I go about testing them?

If this is the case this amp is getting sold as-is and I'm on the market for three 800 watt at 2 ohm amps or some other amp to do at least 1800 at 2.67 ohms.

bump before work... I'm thinking about selling this amp and letting someone else have it repaired. I would probably sell it for around 200 OBO + sh. I have had quotes of around 100-160 to fix it.. But I still have a little hope for it so I will continue to try and fix it for a while.
