ok... so i've got this noise coming out of my subs "almost" like one of them is blown. BUT... they still pound... almost like there's a piece of paper in the box somewhere vibratin' and makin a horrendous noise. the subs POUND though... i was thinking port noise, but then someone said that was more like a "whistling" noise... can a sub be partially blown? returning the subs would be difficult...

torn voicecoil?? dayyum, that would ****...

is that a common thing (well relatively common?)

could it be that my amp's filters (or crossovers) are not set to what the port is tuned to?

Quite possibly "tinsel slap." Basically the leads from the terminal going to the voicecoil are hitting the cone during high excursion. To check if that is the probelm, take one of the subs out of the box and see if there are any marks on the back of the cone. The fix it to put a bit of moleskin on the back of the cone where they are hitting. Another possibility is the wires going to the sub are vibrating inside the box. Fix for that is duct tape. Hope that one of these is the problem. Good luck.

Or it may be a slight separation of the Dustcap from the cone or a slight separation of the cone from the Voice coil. The same noise came from this cheap Pyramid speaker i had and i found that the dust cap had just a Very slight looseness.. I solve that by hooking it to a 1800w amp... never had any trouble from that speaker ever again... well it never worked again because i pushed the cone out of the speaker literally. But it could be any of what they said or a slight problem with the cone. You might want to also go in your box to make sure there isn't anything inside it. The paper like noise you hear might actually be paper

thanx for ur people's help... i'm gonna check on that tinsel slap problem and the fact that the wires leading to the sub might be hitting the sub (i'll fix that with duct tape)... peace out...

ps- this board is dope
