hey bro sorry to hear.. BUT MISERY LOVES COMPANY... i have two infinity perfects and one of them is blown right now doing the exact same thing.. at first it didnt pop until turned real high but now its popping pretty easy.. Check this, push the cone in a fair amount and you will feel the speaker pop back into place, it will sound good again, unfortunately it pops right back out when turned up to a halfway decent level.. **** i am pissed.. THis is actually my 3rd perfect to do this now.. i already sent the other two back. I love the sq and they have nice spl but they blow like this like crazy.. I actually just came on this car audio forum to post the same message you did pretty much and i saw your post.
What i want to know is if there is an easy way to fix this, or if its just a defect in the speakers.. like maybe a bad line. Also, does anyone know exactly what happened? I know something separated from something else, but what caused it and how can it be prevented or fixed. My last one came directly from infinity so it should be fine i would think.... Both of them did. One of them is still working fine, i'm not sure why one blew and the other didnt... I know i am overpowering them with my mtx 81000d but still i think they should be able to handle how hard i pushed them, which wasnt all that hard. i gave them pleanty of break in time and they performed great, and my enclosure should be just right. but they lasted only about 3 weeks just like the last ones.
Does anyone have answers to our questions? ALso, since i'm fairly new to car audio, do other subs do this often? I've had 2 other types of subs and this never happened.. but then again i wasnt giving them as much power.. But like derek said he was giving it the right amount of power, a little less actually, and his did the same thing? why the hell is that?
