Blown Amp?

is there a tell tale way to know if an amp is blown? I dont know a whole lot about amps. but is there a way to tell before i take apart my whole car and check all the wiring again?

What happeend was it cut off one day after being i was in the car for a while with the sub up pretty high. and it cut off as if it overheated. It came back on later on and i turned the subwoofer off from my headunit. the next day when i turned it back on, nothing happened.

check all you fuses leading to the amp, then check to see if the amp is getting voltage with a volt meter, make sure you use the same groud that is feeding the amp to test this. also check the remote for voltage, then if it is lighting up but still no sound, use a ohm meter to test your sub, if it is DVC 4ohm then both coils should measure 4ohm seperately, next if the sub is ok and the amps seems ok check your rca cables.
