I got a JL e1200 (yes its for sale here) It has 2 blown mosfet transistors... I'm curious if anyone here fixes amps and how much it would cost to get it all fixed up....or if its really even worth it? I mean, I can solder and desolder no problem, I'm actually very good at it, but timewise I'm just not really up for it...

how much would it cost to get a whole new set of mosfets off the net if i decided to fix it myself?

If thats all it is you'll be back in business and save a $50 repair charge...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif if it is something else in the amp shorted that made them go bad....you'll just blow them again //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I've seen IRF Z44's for less than $2.00 each at times....

hmm... I know why I blew it...it was externally fused, just apparently a bit too high lol, drew too much power and blew itself. I guess I'll just fix it up myself and use it to run some components or something.

is that the type that this amp uses? I havent gone and looked up the board and rev. specs yet on the net so im not quite sure exactly which fets im gonna need, but.... I know the basic rule is replace one replace them all....but is that absolutely necessary?

Yeah, send it to chris at db-r. He fixed my e6450 for cheap...very good service. He came recommended by jake from sundown audio if that means anything to you.I would have had jl fix it but I got it at cost and didnt want to get the kid in trouble who sold it to me.
