blowing tweeters

i don't see how i keep blowing tweeters.

i have them run off the passive crossover. so now i'm going to try runnin the tweeters off the rear input on the amp and the front speakers on the front input.

but my radio is not active capable

i have been setting my gains with a dmm by the way

crossover (ID) is set to 0

i upgraded amps to a cresendo so i'm guessing i might have had damage from the hifonics

gain is at a little past 1/2

i use to have ID tweeters but they blew, so i got soundstream ones running with their crossover going into the ID crossover since I didn't have 4 chan amp and didn't have time to re-wire yet.

i also got rid of my pioneer deck for a kenwood

i now have a cresendo 1000c4 so i'm going to run my new tweeters off the rear

and the speakers off the front

hopefully it won't fry again

i'm thinking it was my old hifonics amp that was giving me trouble

how do you prevent tweeters from blowing

Ive never blown tweeters other than clipping them and having my crosses set at +3. Back when i wanted more out of my fusions than they offered and i was too stupid to know what i was doing. I dont see how you could be blowing them unless something is wired or set-up wrong.

I would guess that those tweeters can't actually take 120w rms. Also, who would want to give them that much power? Tweeters are there to fill in the highs that the mids can't deliver. They don't need much power to just fill that void. Overpowered highs sound harsh and bad. Just set the tweets to -3db, and go easy with the gain. You will notice your tweeters lasting and no more headaches.
