Blew my PA DB1212 ffs!

So I'm at the school parking lot, showing my friend my sub I got from Crutchfield, and it's sounding great. I'm powering it with a Kicker 400.1 400W amp, gain is tad past half, same with bass boost, and set at 80hz. He just got done asking me if I had ever blown a fuse with it, and next thing you know it smokes and shuts off.

I noticed it smelt burnt from the start sence I got it, but I figured that was a "new sub smell". I got a full refund for it, but anyone have any idea why it just blew on me? I didn't overpower it at all!

Polk Audio. I barely had the Bass Boost on though. Tad past halfway point isn't that much I wouldn't think.

The bass boost and its only rated for 360rms most likely your problem. Going by crutchfield, I am assuming the imp. load was at 2 ohms which is a 400 or better RMS from the Kicker amp at 2 ohms.

a polk db sub will take alot more than 400 we push 500+ all the time to them .

i think it was user error or a bad box or a touch of both.

polk is geared to mostly budget sq. ur tring to push it past it's limits. no bass boost...

well its done and over now and i plan on upgrading to 2 12" kickers in the future anyway. 700 rms.

Incorrect Box? It's the factory box that comes with the DB1212.

Starving the amp of power? Kidding me? 4 Gauge wire, sanded chasis, and secured ground?

I'm pretty sure I did everything right. I'm almost positive since the sub smelt "burnt" from the beginning it was manufacture fault. Not mine.
