got here a little late to get in on the favorite h/u trend but my vote goes the sony cdx-c90, simply the best, but my real question is this, does any one remember the old kenwood krc-999 and krc-999 ll cassette headunits that came out in the late 80's....I had an 999 ll and it was the coolest deck I had ever seen. motorized drawer that slid out and had the first built in graphic eq, i can't remember if it was a 7,9,or 11 band but it was cool none the less. lights lights light dammn it was so cool and for the 80's this was a cutting edge h/u with a price tag of $1500 bucks suggested retail....just thought i'd share the ramblings of an old timer:D //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif :D

I've seen a picture of one somewhere, but not in person. I was just a baby back then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Haven't seen you post in a while, WB.

Thanks, glad to be back, new position at work really eats up a lot of my time, then throw on top of that trying to be a father and husband really leaves a body pooped out.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif :D //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I'd imagine. I have enough trouble trying to keep up with my own interests, let alone a family.

We've all had our share of misfortures with certain brands, but I will say this don'

t discount all Sony decks because they do make some very nice pieces. I'm not familar with the unit that you listed but if you get a chance too, check the cdx-c90, it's part of their mobile es line-up and I believe that it's out of production, but you can still find one on e-bay for about $500 bucks and believe me it's well worth every dime. I can say that it's about the best sq and performance deck ever built.

To me it does have one flaw.... the display will tend to wash out in direct sunlight, I think it's performance is unparalled by anything out there even the new stuff on the market.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif :D //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif :D

Ah, that deck was 15 years ago. It just kind of turned me off of Sony's I guess. I am a Clarion person myself. I am sure Sony's are good radios, I have just had such good luck with the Clarions I have stayed with them. I am pretty loyal when it comes to stuff. I dont switch brands very easy..

After driving around with it for a while at night you get to know what the thing says and you don't need to see it in the daytime //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

NIB C90's go for $550 on ebay, generally, with used topping at around $475. Do you have the C90? Do you use any processor along with it? 766/210/4000x etc

I used to have one and like an idiot I got rid of it, that was one of the biggest mistakes I think I ever made. I truely wish that I still had it because I have come across anything that could even come close.

As far as a processor goes I wanted the 210 but never did get one, so I just tweaked to death my PPI DCX-1000 to get sonic bliss.

When funds are avaliable I will be getting another one though and that's a promise. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif :D //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Clarion makes great decks, I've owed several over the years.

They even built one that out performed the Alpine 7909 and it became the new reference unit for the equipment testers at CarAudio and Electronic's mag.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif :D //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
