Blackbonnie's 05 Grand Prix GT Build Log

here are some more pics. i still have a ton of work to do, with sealing it all off, securing the box, finishing up the false floor, cleaning up the wires, and deciding on what i wanna do with the box as far as paint or carpet and what not.

vid will hopefully be up later today.

whats this...

yup, your right. 250 amp alt from mechman. it is there rhino series, and tested a total 261 amps, 161 i believe it was at idle. very satisfied with it. definately what i was looking for and was easily in my price range.

thats it for right now, stay tuned for a vid.

so far with what i got, im very pleased. i know there is alot more potential once i get everything all sealed up and deadned, but its an on going project and am finally happy i got my substage half-way installed.

still trying to loosen it up a little, so im not pushing it real hard, but i can tell you right now that this sub will take anything i throw at it.

well here are some pics of what was up

i actually got it to sit down lower but didnt get pics. so once i get all my leaks fixed and get my trunk to shut, i will be rebuilding the same box but in the trunk.

the box will fit in the trunk, only problem is putting it in the trunk. so that is why i will be building it in the trunk now.

hoping to get it cut this weekend.
I had this same problem with the first box I build for my 12's I tried everything to get it into the trunk, but after 45mins off man-handling the stupid box, we(3 men) gave up and just left it part ways in the trunk and on the rear passenger seat and went cruising around to ***** bars with it like that. It sure was loud as hell, but unfortunately I couldnt leave it like that and took it out after we got back, We were all wasted to. That was fun.

because of the depth of the box, i am unable to run the ports completely internally. so there is a total of 8.5" inside the box, and the rest is external port.

if i wouldnt have done it like that i would not of been able to run the port config. i wanted or get the tuning i want.

i could have used a slot port but i was already limited for space an a slot port would have taken up to much room inside the box and i wouldnt have been able to accomplish 5 ft^3 aftr displacments with a slot port.

so i went with 2 6" aeroports with most of them being external. and i think my overall port displacement was something along the lines of .74ft^3 alot less then what it would have been with a slot port.

im very happy with the box but if were to do it over again which i eventually will...i will still use aeroports but i will most likely try and off center the sub to the pasenger side, and then have both aeroports stacked on top of eachother firing on the drivers side. or possibly run a single 8" or 10" aeroport.

im not sure when i will be building another box. i would like to get this one metered first and then try to make some mods to it and if it doesnt turn out how i want it. then i will rebuild it and make some drastic changes most likely.
