is it real?

i'm worried //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

ya, i'm not so worried. i'm pretty sure only programs can have virus planted in them. like .exes and such, they were working on getting them in pictures, but its near impossible.

that and the mp3 file would need to be significantly bigger, like over twice as big. i'm sure ud notice something like that. and i don't think cd players can execute commands it just plays what it can read.

i call bullshit........

ya not a chance man

only mp3 you have to worry about is the 64kbps mp3 that crackles so bad it blows ur front stage..........

although im not sure if its possible to make a malitious (although im not sure) mp3 file. the fact that it would hurt your HU is questionable. i would think they would have to enginere it different for each manufacturer

im pretty sure anything is possible my friends.

in fact. i bet it is possible. in fact, i know its possible //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

my friend played an mp3 once on his computer, and it was encoded with some kind of script that deleted ALL the file associations from his copmuter that had to do with any media file. all .wav\.jpg\.gif\.mpg\.mov\.mp3\.mpeg\.jpeg\.bmp\ect were erased from the file, and you had to eaither rename it with the correct extension. we ended up having to reformat his harddrive because it screwed everything up. and the file actually played a song too, and he noticed that his screen flashed and his computer lagged when the song was openend. and he called me right away when all of his mp3's were "gone".

its definatly possible to link a script or somthing into a media file. it may not be easy, but its POSSIBLE

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif I'd be so pissed off if that happoned to me. It's just stupid that somebody has to go and do that to other peoples computers, it makes me want to smash stuff with a baseball bat.

I've been doing internet security for a fortune 500 company for a couple years (as a side gig) and I know this is not possible. Only car pc's would be open to this like iMobilepc and some of the others but it wouldn't be in an mp3 it would be in some type of executable file. Just my 2 cents.

it was probably bundled within the download/install script not the actual mp3 itself.

na dude.

he downloaded the mp3

it was raw mp3 format.

he loaded it in winamp, and shit went crazy. dont go telling me what it is or isnt. im a computer guy too. thats what happeend. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

I'm not going to argue about it but back to the main question, imo it is not possible with regular head units. Most viruses have to have a "real" operating system to work and a regular hu doesn't have it. That is all.
