Bigger wire....Doesnt Hit as hard

ok my amp pushes 700 watts to my woofer and i bought a really cheap 240 rms amp kit from walmart. the rca's are excellent quality. When i play bass heavy songs loud for a long time my amp cuts off then i have to cut off the head unit then cut it back on to get the amp back on.....i think its because the wires to small. So i decided to buy an 1000 watt amp kit. Hooked it up and it didnt hit as hard. Is it because i twisted the in line fuse holder into the power wire and taped it? Do i need to solder the in line fuse holder wire into the power cord? I beleive its not getting enough current because the in line fuse holder and the power cord arent connected properly. On my cheap walmart ampppp kit the fuse holder came already in the power wire. Any advice on whats causing it to "muffle" the bass when i upgraded the wire would be appreciated

i upgraded the ground also. o yea. Could it be because the ends of the wire is bare wire? i didnt use the things that came in the kit for the ends. Could that be my problem

sounds like you may have some loose connections.

You shouldn't need to solder anything or connect any terminals to the ends of your wire (except at the battery and your ground point), but pawn man is probably right that you have a bad connection somewhere.

please re-connect the proper way with terminals, and make sure to use a little sandpaper and get down to some bare metal for your connection.

Look at some pics of how others have installed thier systems.

Stop buying gear at walmart.

There should be a screw on the fuse holder that you first loosen, then insert the wire, then tighten the screw and it should squeeze down on the wire and get a good contact.
