i have a 5.5 cubes at 34 w/2 12 hype r's and it really gets the lows, really shines on the lows on "hypnotize" young jeezy. but is lacking output on the higher note on that song. just dont have the output on the mid lows... would a smaller box change it or should i tune it higher with the same size box. im looking for hard lows and good mid lows..it just really flattens out on all songs that have any mid bass.

Smaller and tune lower. I would shoot for about 4 cubes tuned to around 30hz if you want a flatter response with more output in the 50-80hz region. Sub placement, port firing direction, and the crossovers on your amp can all have an effect on upper frequency extension. The note it's struggling with is 52hz and that's pretty low to start rolling off.

a flatter response on paper is not what i like. 4 cubes @ 34 is the lowest tuning i ever would go. to me it hits plenty of lows.

also when tuning to 30 you loose alot of just output.

if you want more highs just tune higher at the same box volume. i'd only go smaller if you have more power.

Mine lost a few dbs when i went higher than 32hz....i tried a bunch of diff boxes for my 15.

Mine loved 32hz, and was insane on the lows when i tried 30hz...both were 3.5cu

Tried 4cu@38hz, 3.5@30,32,and 35hz, and 2.0@45ish hz

It was loudest on my TL at the 32hz...145.6@36hz tone

Just my experience with mine, take it for what you will

i have my 2 mtx 9515ss, first at 6.8 cubes at 28 hz it slam !!! then at 7.7 cubes at 30 hz hit a lot harder !!

know i want to do a box at 6 ubes at 35 hz !!

will i loose some outpout for goin on a smaller box ??

Ok? You're not this guy and he wants more output in the 50hz region. The higher you tune, the larger the peak will be. If he tunes higher, then he will have a peak around the 40-45hz region and then things will still sound shallow around 50hz and then they will also be weaker around 35hz (lowest note in hypnotize).

If he tunes lower, the peak will probably be closer to 35-40hz but won't be as severe as the higher tuning. Making the enclosure smaller will also help with the upper frequency extension. This will help him gain what he is looking for. Was this thread about your likes or the original poster's wants?

He asks how to extend a flatter overall output, mainly up high, and your answer is to shift his peak higher and steeper?

running about 1200 rms. i have it firing foward from the back of the trunk. with the back seat down. tried it firing the bumper but it just about blew my trunk off and wasnt any louder. so it sounds really good just not nearly as hard on the mid bass compared to lows...like on alot of lil jon songs how the bass runs a high note then a low note. highs have little output. so should i tune higher like 37,38 or will i lose lows. or smaller box and tuned the same...i really dont know. guess its trial and error
