Bigger amp kit

Currently have a 4g amp kit running about 650 rms and will have new amps installed soon,new amps has 140 amp worth of fuses,so I will probably be running about 1000 to 1100 watts,Question is should I upgrade to a 2g amp kit or am I fine?I'm sure I'm gonna pay the same price to have the amps installed even if they don't run new power wire so maybe I should upgrade anyway.

In general, 4 gauge wire is recommended up to 125A. Some specific brands may be oversized and can handle a little more. Some brands are undersized and cannot handle the full 125A. You should always check with the wire manufacturer and see if they give a rating for that given wire.

That said, your figures do not really add up though. What are the RMS values for each amp? If they have a combined fuse value of 140A, that is more than 1000~1100W RMS.

I have to agree

Watts=Amps x Volts so lets be conservative and say 140A x 12V = 1680 Watts RMS

If you truely have 140A worth of fused amps you should look into 2awg or 0awg

When I said 1000 to 1100,that's what my gains will be set to give my comps and sub,but here is a rundown

cadence zrs6000 700 at 2 ohms rated at 13.8 2 40 amp fuses

cadence zrs9000 90x4 rated at 13.8 2 30 amp fuses

In any case, if you are going to use the 4 gauge wire, make sure you use a fuse that is rated to match the rating of the wire. So in this case, you should use a 125A fuse. If it blows, you need bigger wire.
