i definitely agree with what you are sayingNot going to bother reading the whole thread, but I will say again something I've said before. The origins of the universe are not rooted in logic, no matter what theory you believe. Logic does not allow for "nothing" to exist, because it is always implied that something had to come from something else. Even if you believe God created the universe, logic forces us to ask where god comes from. Logic also implies that there had to be something to explode for the big bang theory to make sense. The two main theories regarding the beginning of the universe only work if the universe defies the laws of reason and logic, which means that no matter how much we speculate, we will never be able to pin down an answer because we only understand the world through logic.
Logic and reason, when allowed uninhibited freedom, does tend to lead to either indefensible positions according to logic(like, say... unmoved mover), or radical skepticism about everything. Still, I don't feel this means that we can never understand things like the beginning of the universe of the origin of life. If anything, it's far more useful to perform experiments and let our reason be tempered by natural results, so that even if we never get to the point where we know everything, what we do know will be as accurate and in line with reality as possible. Not going to bother reading the whole thread, but I will say again something I've said before. Good way to word it.Also that is the problem with reason alone. People tend to feel that it's important to produce a completely consistent and complete logical framework for the universe. But, the only way this would be possible would be if the universe were, in it's totality, either a bundle of concepts or one supreme concept. In reality, you have to take into account that the universe isn't just concepts, it also contains natural phenomenon. If we want to know about the universe, it's a good start to observe the universe to see what it is, rather than starting with pure logic which, admittedly, has more in relation with human neurology than with the universe itself.
As much as i want to agree with this, i just don't think we will ever understand the beginning of the universe because it is much larger than we can even imagine, yes, imagine. It is so big, that it probably holds more history than our brain can even handle. I would however , like to think that one day we could understand it the same way we understand black holes, and prove that that our theories have become science fact, and not a science fiction. With the increase in technology, and the rate it is improving, i do believe that anything is possible in the near future. When i say the near future i mean the next 1000 years or so. To bad we won't be around to get the real answers.Logic and reason, when allowed uninhibited freedom, does tend to lead to either indefensible positions according to logic(like, say... unmoved mover), or radical skepticism about everything. However, this doesn't mean I believe in God or Creation. I don't really. I just recognize the fact that the universe's existence defies logic, and that we will never be able to gather enough evidence to form a truly coherent theory about its origins.i definitely agree with what you are saying
i am the same way, i just don't think it is possible to understand the beginning because it is far greater than us, the same thing with god. However, this doesn't mean I believe in God or Creation. I translate when my voice is read through a sismograph
And a noise is bred, picked up and transmitted through Royce's head (AAHHH)
Trapped him in his room, possessed him and hoist his bed
Till the evilness flows through his blood like poisonous lead
Told him each one of his boys is dead
I asked him to come to the dark side, he made a choice and said
ok, so basically you are religious. That explains why you made this comment, i guess. So you know god exists, huh?I've read the whole thread and fact is both sides are a possibility. It is a matter a faith that will make one a believer. As for me, things that have happened throughout my short life that no science could ever explain, has increased my faith, though i have no set religion, i KNOW God is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end and thats all the explanation i need.
