Big three

Hey so i ordered my 0 ga today for the big three and have been doing a fair amount of research into the big three. I noticed that a lot of people recommend going from engine block to bat neg but i also saw a guy that went from engine block to chassis, this seems to accomplish the same thing or am i wrong? Grounding engine block to chassis would be a shorter piece in my car.

Engine Block to chassis. If you do wire it to battery, electricity will need to flow from chassis, back through battery ground, over to the engine block. It's more resistance than going from chassis to engine block. That's provided you have your amps grounded to chassis. If you have direct ground runs to your batt(s), then it would probably be better that way. That's just the way I see it though.

thats what i thought, dont see why people bother to ground block to battery :S

I found just following your vehicles existing ground points as a good reference point on where to ground.

I would imagine it would be better to run engine block to battery (and still leave the small ground to chassis) if you have direct ground runs to your batt(s).

Usually if you have a bigger system with multiple batteries. It's good practice to run dedicated ground runs of wire for ground from main battery to rear bank, or however it's wired, instead of using the chassis. And then your ground from your amp will go straight to the battery ground, never directly touching the chassis. It all depends on where you will ground your amp, where the current is flowing to/from.
