Doesn't really matter, the whole vehicle is essentially one giant ground. Hell you can skip out on the engine block wire all together and your alt will still charge because your engine is attached to the vehicle's frame (though I highly suggest NOT doing this)

I have my engine ground going to the battery and I don't have any issues.

Either or... just go the same place your factory ground goes to avoid issues.
