Big problem, can I upgrade like this?

Aww cmon im not saying i'll keep it like that, nor am I saying that the amp is on fire or that I blew even a fuse. Im going to upgrade everything very soon I just wanted to know if I had to upgrade my alternator/battery/etc first
You could, but I would not tell you to. For 1200 watts, you probably won't need a HO alt. Just make sure you add the big 3 and all connections are to bare metal.

then you just answered your own question. your running things completely wrong and your having issues. HELLOOOOOOO. wire it to 4 ohms, put your gain down because chances are your clipping. You realize you are running a kicker on 150watts right? don't expect anything out of that.
^THIS^

I'll help you out with some answers of your next post topics.

-yes your amp is blown from it being pushed in a way it was not designed.

-yes your sub is probably blown, forcing an amp to run at a load it's not designed for can cause premature clipping.

-yeah man, fires ****. Sorry about your car. How did you have it wired for it to catch fire?

You can come up with your own questions, i just got answers

Why is it even a question if the amp is not rated for that load? I know people run 1 ohm Koreans at crazy low impedances, but this is a 2 ohm amp. The people who do that are usually experienced too.

I'm pretty sure these types of Kicker amps run a higher internal voltage and are less stable at low impedances because of this.

It simply amazes me, in this day and age, with all the info out there to be had at the end of your fingertips. People still do dumb shiz like this, and wonder why their system does not work or sound right .....

Then people try to be nice and help them, and they still try to justify what they are doing .. and ignore all good knowledge given to them for free ....wtf ...

I WISH we had this kind of knowledge base to tap into at the touch of a key pad back in the early 90's ......

Back then knowledge like this usually ended up costing you a few hundred or a couple thousand $$$ worth of melted down amps ....

by you saying the gains are at 75%, that lets me know that the gains aren't set correctly

Set it back to 4 ohms, turn the gains down before you burn your car down.

Research on how to set your amp gains correctly and roll with that for the time being until you can upgrade to better equipment

Guys calm down, I have done nothing BUT research all these past weeks. Unfortunately I did not focus enough on my own equipment, thats true, but I did set it back down to 4 ohm, and I have not blown anything nor had any other problems. And I set the gains with my lc2i. I also do not take your jokes/sarcasm seriously because everyone makes mistakes, especially beginners. Ive been in "this" for less than 2 months and im not even 19 yet, I wouldn't expect myself to know even CLOSE to everything even after years of expereience. Besides being mad over little things like this is sad actually haha

Thank you to everyone for helping me with this! And I will soon be back with questions on the quickest way to take out a car fire XD

whose mad ?? It just sounded to me that you were ignoring the good advice you got in the beginning. Yes we all started somewhere, you are right .....

and then we gain knowledge, try to pass it on, but then you don't want to listen ....that is what it seems like when you keep coming up with reasons to keep doing the same thing, after these knowledgeable people tell you, the new into the hobby guy, the correct way to do things ...

Bro this is the first time I even start a thread about my current setup XD and it began only a few hours ago! I didn't deny anyone's advice, and I did set everything according to what you guys told me. All I wondered was if there was anything wrong with my electrical system and if I could improve my setup without having to focus on an ho alternator and/or the battery first

if you set your equipment accordingly I'm sure you'll be able to run atleast a 900W sub setup and a 300w miss and highs setup. just be smart about things. just because its louder doesn't mean its correct.

what are you upgrading to?
