BIG Power wire question for you guys!

just run 30-40 runs of 0 no matter what it is it wont make a difference it will find the path of least resistance.
Don't forget, you also need about 4 HO alternators, 250A or more, as well as a bank of 16 or more batteries.

You'd never hear an audible difference. You'd most likely never see a voltage difference.
Too much thought is put into this sorta thing..
Isn't that what ca.com is all about... Taking something perfectly acceptable and over analyzing/arguing it to the point of insanity. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Higher strand count leads to higher flexibility and greater vibration resistance only. Almost all wires used in car audio are stranded for this reason. A 5000 strand wire vs a 4000 strand wire (of the same wire gauge size) will have indistinguishable power handling differences, but the 5000 strand will most likely be more flexible. Solid copper wire has high current capability than than stranded (in the same gauge wire), but in a car environment, it would crack due to vibration.

The talk about current only flowing the outside of the conductor is partially correct. The phenomenon is called skin effect. It is completely irrelevant at audio frequencies due to the relative low frequencies. It is even more irrelevant (if this is possible //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ) when you are talking about power wire. Strand count does nothing here to help.

Kicker hyperflex is silver tinned 100% oxygen free copper. It is one of the best types of wire you can get. It is not CCA or something stupid like that.

I dont know why everyone is stuck on gold being a great conductor, it has a good conductivity dont get me wrong...it's just used for the main porpuse that it is very stable and doesnt corrode etc. like other metals, that's why you see gold used on connection points that are more exposed and would be more likely to corrode (gold is plated over something usually so that the connection stays true and the copper/brass underneath doesnt corrode and make the connection more resistive)...
Sorry. The first reply just made it seem like gold had equal, if not great conductivity than copper..
Silver believe it or not is the best conductor from what I have read and all but again it is not practice.

Yes it is... but it tarnishes way too easily for most applications. Once it tarnishes, it is no longer the best conductor.

carbon nano tubes ftw, much better, much lighter, and much more cost effective than gold, not to mention 0 corrosion etc... ****! why dont they come in longer sections than 11 mm lol

(i know why so dont correct this with a smartass answer)

I know, lol. Just was clarifying that gold is not an absolutely awesome conductor like a ton of people think, it's porpuse is to keep a good connection by not tarnishing like a copper on copper connection eventually would, that's why it's almost always a coating over connection points and not the main conductor itself.

Proove it! We need to analyze what you're saying is true! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
