big power 6.5in mid driver recomendations

ok, I might try the id oem's. Im pulling my hair out here trying to find some that can take a beating
the ID's will take a beating. so will the rsd's though. i had them on the same amp that the ID's are on right now. they handled it fine as well.

i'd actually say i pushed the rsd's harder because the ID's are more sensitive, so i have the volume turned down a little lower to get the same volume out of them. i used to use 48-50 on my HU quite a bit, now i never go over 45 and i never touched my gains.

How do the id's sound compared to the rsd's. My rsd's sound nice and I used to have some infinity kappa mids which I personally thought sounded warmer than the rsd'd but had not mid bass at all. I to usally never go above 46 on my headunit, usally 40 tops. The ids look a bit beefier than the rsd's tho ?

the ID's have slightly more mid-bass once broken in, but sound a lot tighter and punchier. what i was really after was more mid-range clarity, and the ID's do it for me. i always thought the rsd mids lacked clarity up top, thats the reason i upgraded.

Ok thanx for the little review. ima give them a go and see how it goes, where did u get urs from

just a warning tho, this isnt directed to anyone in this thread

but i've been told many times that X speaker takes X power.. and when it comes down to it, it doesnt..

an example would be my cmx kicks.. i was told 250-300 watts easy... and no, they dont.. sorry.. they could take about 200 crossed at 80 but even then you could smell their coil every once in awhile.. and once you hit 250+ depending where they were crossed, they would bottom out

some people set their gains with 0 db test tones at level 25 say... then play their music at level 25.. and guess what.. most music is about -6db (with exceptions) so they arent using the power they think they are.. and 6dbs the higher you go.. adds up

but like i said in my previous post.. power handling in doors is over rated... since they're basically an IB setup.. power isnt the problem.. their mechanical limits is usually the problem...

Just set your gains by ear. I set them using pink noise and then also go back over them with a well-recorded CD. Set your tweets, mids, and sub(s) individually. Then go through an do a level adjustment.

Well, X amp makes X power.....and when it comes down to it, it doesn't. RMS power is not average power. His amp doesn't put out 284 watts all the time. It might be for a fraction of a second.

Buy a mid that fits your application and budget and ignore all those relatively useless ratings. 95% of the power or more is wasted as heat in a speaker. And your amp might only be 50% efficient at delivering power. Buy as much power as you can afford.

yer, thanx for all the info, im gonner have to source a pair of mids now, might be hard. my budget is about 200 usd

if you want an awesome set of 6.5 midbass the Earthquake shallow mount 6.5 will give it to you...plus they take a lot of power...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
