big difference? powering speakers question

is there going to be a world of a difference between powering 4 speakers with a 4 channel amp vs powering 4 speakers with a 2 channel amp?

with the 2 channel, obviously i'd be bridging the left side front and rear channels together and right side front and rear together...

Issues i can see using the 2 channel amp setup:

+ : Save alittle $ cus you're maximizing the amp's power, don't have to buy a 4 channel amp (more expensive)

- : Loose front to rear fade

- : possibly loose very little sound quality

anything other issues you guys can think off?

anyone use 2 channel amp to power 4 speakers?

I agree with JimJ. However, if you are putting both sets up front, it shouldn't matter too much. It'll just give you a 2 ohm load on each channel vs. a 4 ohm load on each channel. But if you're putting the speakers in different places, ie one set in front and one in back, I would just sell your current 2-channel and pick up a decent 4-channel.

Get rid of your rears altogether and DON'T put two sets up front.
ahhaha i c

i was thinking bout getting a nice set of comps for the fronts and use my revs for the rear fills...

alot of people don't even care about the rears it seems, with the whole concert idea...

but from what you guys are telling me though, that the only negative by doing it is that the rear may overpower the fronts...??

That's a pretty big negative.
Huge.
gigantic.

I say get a 4-channel now. If you get a powerful enough one, you can use 2-channels now and not worry about the extra set. Then, if you decide to go active front-stage later you've already got enough amplification to do it. I just think it'd save you time and $ later on when you upgrade....and you will upgrade, lol. We always do.
