I'm putting a system together. So far I have the Alpine CDA 9831 head unit. I'm getting the Alpine MRV-F540 amp.
I have a 2002 Explorer Sport Trac. The stock speakers are 5x7 all around. I'm gonna replace all 4 door speakers. I listen to a lot of Rock. I'm looking for speakers that will deliver strong mid bass. Which would do that better 5 1/4s or 5x7s? I don't want to go cheap on my speakers. Is it worth it to spend the extra money for installation to put in 5 1/4s or even 6 1/2s? I'm currently looking at the 5 1/4 MB Quart Premiums for the front speakers if i do buy 5 1/4s. Then possibly R Series speakers for the rear.
Also has anyone heard of running their rear speakers from the head unit, then running the fronts and a subwoofer from 1 amp? How would that sound? The MRV F540 puts out 80 w RMS x 4 at 4 ohms and the CDA 9831...50W MAX x 4 High Power Amplifier.
Any suggestions? Any would be very appreciated.
TIA
