Big differance in dB from 12w3 to 12w6?

Hey,

Im really set on getting more more db's from my sub. Right now i got a 12w3 in a sealed box powered by a Crossfire 600rms amp @ 1ohm.

I cant add another sub to this amp so now im thinking about upgrading the cone to a 12w6. I imagine i could use the same box, unfortunatly i dont know how big the encolsure is at the momment, but assuming that it would fit, could i expect a big increase in volume from the 12w6?

The w6 are notorious for their sq. Have you thought of other woofers other than JL?

I have, but i really like the sq with the jl's. Will the w6 only give me a big jump in sq?

Do you have any suggestions for a woofer that wouldnt sacrifce the sq from my w3 but would give me better db's?

Well, 12w6v2 should have the potential to get about ~2.5db louder than the 12w3

That would be an audible difference, but not like a night and day difference.

From my experience, there isnt much of an SPL difference between the 12w3v2 and 12w6v2, you may actually lose SPL by going to the 12w6v2.

But the 12w6v2 will sound so much better SQ wise.

If you want an increase in SQ, then get the 12w6v2.

If you want an increase in SPL, the PORT THE 12w3v2.....(just like 80 said).

Why can't you run another W3? 600w rms is plenty for 2 W3s. I'm guessing you're running a dual 2 ohm sub? That could be why.
