As far as "ultimate" commercial subs go, I think I'd take a Velodyne 1812.

While the Epik Conquest is relatively inexpensive compared to other subs out there, a large low tuned 18" is nothing a beginner DIYer couldn't do.

Custom 15" woofer, 6" flared port, 500w bash amp. Not bad for a commercial subwoofer,

but not that impressive from a DIY point of view.

Hoffman's Iron Law is a *****.
Given some of the other tradeoffs, give me a larger enclosure any day of the week...

I'd rather use more cone area and go IB and eliminate the size of the enclosure being a factor. It's not like I use the attic anyway.

This is still seemingly an impressive sub.
