big 3 upgrade

hey I need a little help locating the things I need for the big three upgrade. I'm on a budget and would like to get some info on inexpencive parts and wires for the big three upgrade. any ideas please share like do I really need a cap for the battery post with the 3 slots?

Yes you need an aftermarket battery terminal. Sonic electronix had a great deal on tsunami 2 1/0 and 2 awg in battery terminals they were under 20 for a set shipped from their ebay store

Not neccesarily. I just have my lugs connected to my terminal ends.

I think since I only have a 55 amp alternator I'm going to run 4 awg wire to the battery and ground, will this work for what I have?

1/0 is always recommended. If you're gonna do it, do it right the first time

And what kinda car only has a 55 amp alt?

You could get away with 4 gauge for all of your big 3. You can also leave the stock wiring in place when running the new wiring to help.

Yep my car only has a 70 amp but I did it in 1/0 anyways

a 1971 plymouth scamp its somewhere in the 50's range I know that for sure and all my research say is it's 55

and here soon I'm gettin a 78 amp alternator and I already have my capacitor hooked up and still getting alot of drop so if the 78 amp and 4 awg big three doesn't work and make it stop dropping my bass everytime i touch the gas I'm selling my stuff.

Cap wont help if you have serious voltage drop already. You'd be better off with an agm battery under the hood.

With 55 amps you need to expect dimming and voltage drops a big 3 won't significantly help that.
