Big 3 upgrade with 2ga?

A buddy of mine has some extra 2ga layin around and said I can have it to do a big 3 upgrade. Can I get some clarification on if using 2ga is ok or does it have to be 0ga because my other electrical is ran in 0ga?

You're just looking to upgrade the existing wire. So anything bigger than the stock crap is good. And as long as the wire you use is big enough to carry your alt's capacity, you're good.
